Pain therapy
CT-controlled infiltration treatment of the spinal column is a widely recognised therapy method we have applied for many years. The indication for this treatment is set after a thorough preliminary clinical and imaging examination. The success rate is high and is characterised by relief or complete resolution of symptoms. Infiltration treatment often helps to avoid surgery.
Indication for CT-controlled facet infiltration:
This treatment is suitable for the patients with definite forms of back pain, if physical therapy turned out to be unsuccessful. The pain is often caused by inflammatory or degenerative changes of the vertebral arch joints (arthrosis).
Indication for CT-controlled perineural infiltration:
This method is applied in patients with back and leg pain (lumbar sciatica) as well as with neck and arm pain (cervical brachialgia).
The pain is caused by the nerve root compression. In most cases, a herniated vertebral disc is the reason for that.
What is a herniated vertebral disc?
An intervertebral disc consists of a gelatin-like core surrounded by a fibrous ring. With advancing age, dehydration and formation of cracks in the fibrous ring of the intervertebral disc are observed. The jelly-like matter may break out into the spinal cord or nerve channel and press on the spinal cord or nerve roots. Herniated discs most frequently occur in the area of the lower lumbar and thoracic spine.
