Duplex sonography
Arterial vascular diseases are responsible for development of various disease patterns; the most common are a stroke and a heart attack. The reason for that is arterial calcification (arteriosclerosis), a gradual process that a person affected does not notice for a long time. The symptoms occur only in the case, when the disease has greatly advanced and if there are some organ damages already.
The development of arteriosclerosis is influenced by smoking, high blood pressure, fat rich diet, lack of exercise and stress.
An early diagnosis of arteriosclerosis is important, in order to avoid serious consequences with the help of the corresponding therapeutic measures.
One of the most common venous vascular
diseases is a leg vein thrombosis, a life-threatening illness that may
lead to pulmonary embolism.
The modern vascular diagnostics offers various examination methods.
Our range of vascular diagnostic services:
- Colour-coded duplex sonography of the arteries, especially of the carotid arteries and leg arteries
- Colour-coded duplex sonography of the veins, especially of the leg veins
- Vascular imaging by means of magnetic resonance imaging and MR angiography. Further information can be found under the navigation item Magnetic resonance imaging (link).
- Vascular imaging by means of X-rays and phlebography (examination of the veins using a contrast agent). Further information can be found under the navigation item X-ray (link).
